Families of Compact Riemann Surfaces with Automorphism Groups

Let {Gamma} be a cocompact Fuchsian group with torsion free normal subgroup N. An infinite family of subgroups of N normal in {Gamma} is obtained and used to state a result about factors of {Gamma} and also to show that no bound exists for the number of normal subgroups of {Gamma} of fixed index.
