K0 of Skew Group Rings and Simple Noetherian Rings without Idempotents

Martin Lorenz

Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik Gottfried-Claren-Str. 26, D-5300 Bonn 3, Federal Republic of Germany

We construct simple Noetherian rings S of characteristic p, for any prime p, such that S has zero divisors but no non-trivial idempotents, and S is not Morita equivalent to a domain. Our methods are non-computational and rely on a description of K0 for certain skew group rings.
